Governor's School for Science and Mathematics Recruiting

January 4, 2012

South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) recruiting for the most academically talented juniors and seniors.

GSSM is a two-year, public, residential high school located in Hartsville, SC. Designed to serve as an incubator for South Carolina's most promising young minds, the school provides motivated juniors and seniors with a challenging, college-level curriculum, as well as advanced summer research experiences with some of SC's top scientists. Our students often present their research at professional conferences and others publish their work while still in high school. We have a competitive athletic program and student activities to ensure a balanced and holistic experience. Because GSSM is a residential school, our students have an opportunity to experience community in a way that supports their transition to college. Many go on to become campus leaders at universities in South Carolina and throughout the country.

Not only does GSSM have a 100 percent college enrollment rate, it also has the highest ACT and SAT scores in the state. What's more, the School boasts the highest number of National Merit Semifinalists in the state. All of our faculty members hold Master's Degrees and 80 percent hold Doctorate degrees. The student-to-teacher ratio is 10:1!

GSSM is currently looking for high-achieving and highly motivated sophomores to apply.
